The Best Skincare Routine for Post-Sun Exposure

The Best Skincare Routine for Post-Sun Exposure

Summer is in full swing, and with it comes the need for proper skin care after sun exposure. Whether you're lounging on the beach or taking a hike in the mountains, it's important to take care of your skin to prevent long-term damage and premature aging. In this blog post, we'll be discussing the best skincare routine for post-sun exposure using products from past and current Dermy Doc Boxes!

Step 1: Cleanse

The first step in any skincare routine is to cleanse the skin. After being exposed to the sun, it's important to use a gentle cleanser to remove any dirt, sweat, or sunscreen that may have accumulated on the skin. I love double cleansing, because it ensures I’ve removed all my sunscreen for the day. Consider using your Spring 2023 Versed Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm followed by CeraVe’s Hydrating Cream-to-Foam cleanser for this step!

Step 2: Sooth

If your skin is red, dry or irritated from sun exposure, consider a soothing spray of hypochlorous acid like Tower 28’s S.O.S. Daily Rescue Facial Spray. This formulation calms the skin as is certified by the national eczema association, so it’s suitable for those with sensitive skin!

Step 3: Serum

Serums are a great way to deliver concentrated ingredients to the skin. After sun exposure, it's important to use a serum that's formulated with ingredients like vitamin C and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and brighten the skin. Some of my past box favorites include Beauty Stat Universal C Skin Refiner and Ren Radiance Glow and Protect Serum.

Step 4: Moisturize

The most important step after a day of sun exposure is to replenish the skin with moisturizer. This ensures that the previous steps have been sealed in and the outer layer of the skin is reinforced. Consider reaching for past Dermy Doc Box favorites like Pure’am authentic barrier cream or First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.

Step 5: Protect

Last but not least, it's important to protect the skin from further sun damage by using sunscreen. La Roche Posay’s Tinted Anthelios Ultra Light Face sunscreen SPF 50, is a great option as it's formulated with natural ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to provide broad-spectrum protection without clogging the pores. Get it in the Summer Dermy Doc Box along with 5 other SPF products today!

Taking care of your skin after sun exposure is crucial for maintaining healthy, youthful-looking skin. By following these simple steps, you can keep your skin looking and feeling its best all summer long!
